Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles – On Voices of Anakazi
On October 6, at 9am PST, 12 noon East, we are speaking to, Aminata Steele, Director of Public Relations ,Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles (AFWLA) a unique and innovative event focused on bringing investors into Africa, encouraging trade and export, and promoting African cultures. Their objective is to enhance the African textile and clothing industries by providing a platform for established and emerging African designers to showcase their talents to a broad audience. AFWLA will allow designers to take advantage of global opportunities and gain international exposure while growing their businesses and boosting the African economy. Africa Fashion Week Los Angeles was founded in response to the growing need in the Greater Los Angeles area to have a cultural showcase that features dynamic African talent.
AFWLA will be a multifaceted week-long event that will include runway shows, industry networking mixers, vendor exhibitions, and more. The event is scheduled for October 10-13th, 2012 at the Papillion Institute of Art, will link international partners, business leaders, local buyers, agents, editors, celebrities, and industry insiders to the vibrant fashions that Africa has to offer.
